Ruth studied to be at Speech and Language Therapist 20 years ago and has worked within the NHS and independent settings. She has worked across different age groups from 0-75 within Child Development Clinics, nurseries, Primary and Secondary Mainstream, Special and Private schools, colleges, clinics, online, and within family homes.
Ruth has held lead roles, supervised others, and developed training programmes. She worked with people targeting a range of areas such as speech difficulties, Developmental Language Disorder, and complex needs, with her area of specialism being diagnosis and support in autism and neurodevelopmental conditions. She experienced in assessing people with complex presentations, e.g. learning difficulties, high levels of anxiety, and situational mutism. Ruth has held various voluntary positions including being the current chair of the National Clinical Excellence Network for Speech and Language Therapists working in neurodivergent diagnostic assessment. She is also a clinical tutor and visiting lecturer at UCL.
Ruth works within a range of multidisciplinary teams with Clinical Psychologists, Paediatricians, Psychiatrists, Occupational Therapists, Educational Psychologists and Specialist Teachers conducting diagnostic assessments, carrying out therapy, and providing training and post diagnostic support.
She is passionate about providing an exceptional level of care, using evidence-based practice, and continually developing her knowledge and clinical skills to offer families the highest standard of care. She believes it is imperative to work collaboratively to be effective, and to ensure that input is functional, impactful, and generalised across all areas of an individual’s life.
